Quirks

Here are some objects in my house that I love. You might scratch your head over a few. That's OK. I did too. And then they grew on me.

My Central American napkins (matching tablecloth stowed away) rescued from my mother-in-law's garage sale pile. Mom has brown ones like these, and I have always hated them. Then I saw them in green....Another napkin. And a crystal bread box holding currently-being-read books, an unused bookmark I made for Jay, remotes, pens and Jason's outdated glasses that I can't take him seriously in (poor guy). And the little African animals that I've had to glue over and over, due to my klutzy hand at dusting.
Pink roses from the yard, in a pretty (antique?) pitcher Leslie gave me for my birthday. She's generally a good gift-picker! I say generally......
My flecky bowl! Bought off Lynette at the church yard sale. It's cradling a cinnamon-sugar mixture for monkey bread.
My African violet, purchased at the same yard sale, perched in a cute little antique enamelware bowl from my friend Carrie. It was a birthday present too.
And the dragon. Behold. I bought him off the yard sale as a gag gift for Leslie. But by the time I had hurtled home, he became a keeper. It's a planter, but wouldn't it be great for holding dip or hot salsa? heh heh.

1. If you did not dust, your African animals would not break. And think of all the time you would save!

2. Man. That friend Carrie has some impeccable taste. Maybe if you lived closer to her, some of it would rub off.

3. Heh heh. Snort.

Joyce,

Sorry-I don't have your email. But I wanted to let you know how much we've been enjoying your homemade bread and peanut. My current favorite treat is to snarf down a PB&J at work--I try to take time to savor all the great flavors but I just lose and then it's gone. Thanks for thinking of us. It was great to see Lyndon and Krista, albeit briefly. Think you'll be in our neck of the woods sometime?

That's a wonderfully ugly dragon. :)

That dragon is perfect for your dip idea! You have this great collection of odd pieces going on...do you still have the peacock light?

Glad my ugly bowl found a happy home with you.

Also, hooray for the Satin Hands set in the dragon!! :) I need to keep a set where I'll use it more often. . .

Kris--the napkins must have been a Central American VSer's passport back into the States.

Carrie--I try only to dust once or twice a month.

Nathalie--hey! Glad you got the goodies. Due to the baby and Owen's surgery, I think we'll be spending our summer "vacation" at home. jlwx2atfrontiernetdotnet

Joy--thanks for appreciating. I was thinking "dragon breath."

Sherri--you'd better believe I have the peacock.

Lynette--you'd be amazed at still how seldomly I use satin hands. : (

You just need to add Jason's homemade pottery statues to the mix yet :). Jan

Yes, Joyce, gotta love those napkins. Mine (the brown ones) were a gift from Grandpa & Grandma B. They were prettier before they lost their color in washing. Now I know who to give them to some day.
