Easter Makey-Makey

I started Helen's Easter dress several weeks before Easter. I finished it several days before Easter. And now I'm posting about it nearly a month later.

I used fabric from my stash. The bias tape around the neck and sleeve holes was vintage; the zipper was also truly vintage, all thanks to my sister-in-law Leslie's late grandmother. The zipper even happened to have been used already, but carefully removed and saved by the same grandma. I chose to be slightly amused, but simultaneously grateful that I didn't have to speed to a fabric store to buy one.It needed something else, so I messed around with the leftover bias tape from the hem. I didn't have quite enough to make a rosette, so I ended up adding a few buttons and beads from my stash to make a pin.

We got a few snapshots of the family before the kids dropped food on their clothes from lunch and fell apart from needing naps. That afternoon we got together with family for an egg hunt and Easter dinner. I made Easter Egg Bread, which was more of a novelty recipe than a dying-to-eat-that-one-again recipe. At least it looked pretty! The leftovers made an excellent bread pudding. The bunny ended up as part of an egg, ham and potato casserole.

Your family looks beautiful in that photo, and so do you. And what in the world, I would never have known that you are pregnant by looking at you!! I really liked Helen's dress. Good makey-make session.

you truly do inspire me...although my sewing is quite scattered and far between and nothing creative comes when I think of bunnies and bread, I love seeing what you do! :-) thanks for sharing!

Beautiful job on the dress! Aren't you glad our mothers taught us to be handy with a sewing machine? Hey do you have some pics for me from the funeral?

Grandma comes through again. :) Hopefully, this zipper will work better than another certain zipper from another certain skirt. ;)

Your skills continue to amaze me! Love that dress. SO SO SO cute. Now say...you all are dressed up and Mr. W is in a t-shirt? Tell him I was wondering what happened. :) :)

And the bread....very cool Joyce. I'm sure it tasted as amazing as it looked.

Wynette--I do need to send you some pictures! I haven't forgotten, I've just postponed. ( :

Heather--when Jason ran his marathon, he was bound and determined to wear his new shirt to church on Sunday. And yes, he was up on stage playing bass too. I didn't mind, I was proud of him. At least we had some orange/blue going on!

Oh Joyce, I love your daughters dress, you are quite the domestic diva! It is adorable! I completly lack sewing skills with the exception of curtains (straight lines are easy). I just found your wonderful blog on your fb page and I think I will come back for a visit :-) ~Jamie
